Dana Point, CA — Today, Republican Congressional Candidate Diane Harkey (CA 49) announced her support for the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act being considered in Congress.
“As proposed the bill beefs up border security, allocates funding to build a wall, closes many immigration loopholes, and provides security and a path forward for the DACA population. Understanding how difficult it is to get enough votes from all sections of the country to pass legislation, I commend the leaders in Congress who have worked so hard to bring these reforms forward.” Diane Harkey added, “it is a good first step to mending our broken immigration system. I look forward to working with our congressional delegation to ensure that our state and our country are able to secure the workforce and talent that it needs, in a legal manner and that criminals are promptly apprehended and detained until they can be returned to their country of origin.”
Diane Harkey finished in first place in the June Primary election in the 49th District, earning over 25% of the vote in the 16-candidate field.
As an elected member of the California Board of Equalization, Diane Harkey currently represents 9.5 million constituents including the entire 49th Congressional District in San Diego and Orange counties.
Harkey graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine and enjoyed a successful 30-year career in corporate finance and banking prior to entering public service. Working in good and bad economic climates with individuals, small-business owners and leaders of publicly-traded companies helped Harkey form the pragmatic business perspective that she will bring to Congress.
