Mayor Jim Wood of Oceanside Endorses Diane Harkey for Congress

OCEANSIDE, CA – – Oceanside’s longtime Mayor, Jim Wood, has endorsed Diane Harkey for Congress in the 49th district, where U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa recently announced his retirement at end of the current term. Jim Wood recently retired as Mayor of the city and has long been one of the most popular public figures in the community.

“I am very honored to have received the endorsement of Mayor Wood who has done so much for the community, both as a police officer and as an elected official,” said Harkey. “He has been a trusted friend to me, and has worked to help me understand and meet the needs of the Oceanside Community. I know I will be able to continue to rely on Jim’s wise counsel during this campaign and beyond.”

Jim Wood was elected to the City Council in 2002 and as mayor in 2004. Before joining the council, he served for 31 years in the Oceanside Police Department.

As Chairwoman of the California Board of Equalization, Diane Harkey is the highest ranking Republican elected official in the state. She represents 9.5 million constituents including the entire 49th Congressional District in San Diego and Orange counties.

Harkey is officially endorsed by Congressman Darrell Issa and many other San Diego and Orange County leaders.
